Position Description:
The Variable Resource Manager will drive the assessment, alignment, and engagement of variable resources in support of Chubb’s Catastrophe response. Key responsibilities include creating, maintain and assuring the “ready state” of a variable workforce among internal and external resources that can be called upon to create additional capacity among Chubb’s dedicated discipline resources. Working closely with the Property discipline teams in the NDU, Field, CSC’s and resources from other business units, the position will assure the adequate preparation, training, engagement workflow/process and activation of internal variable resources from across the organization based on specified criteria, to supplement the Property disciplines existing / dedicated resources.
In addition, the role will leverage or build external opportunities and drive the commitment, contracting and activation of external variable resources to supplement the Chubb’s internal CAT response based on the unique needs of any given event.
The role will also be responsible for building out the “deployment” roles and responsibilities of the technical coaches in the in the CSC’s and Field to oversee, monitor and otherwise manage any given group of variable resources.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Variable Resource Capacity- Work with CAT, Field and Service Center Leadership to assess Independent Adjuster and Tier capacity for Field, NDU and Service Centers.
  • IA Vendor Selection- Partner with Business leaders and vendor management on IA selection and alignment with non cat work.
  • Tier Rosters- Partner with business leaders on tier roster availability, activation, training and protocols.  Utilize technology and work with IT to develop an enhanced annual tracking process of IA resources. This will include assignment portals and estimate platforms. 
  • Variable Resource Activation- Collaborate with CAT Management and Senior Leaders to notify and activate Tier and IA resources during CAT events and manage their utilization. Oversee logistics of system access, training and workflows during CAT events.
  • Variable Resource Utilization- Track productivity, metrics and workflows of variable resources during CAT. Monitor and manage CAT volume and assignments with the CAT, Field and Service Center Management Team including access, authority and deactivation.
  • Oversight- Identify supervisor resources for oversight for variable resource management during CAT events and develop management best practices.
  • IA Management- Collaborate with Vendor management to monitor IA capacity, SLA performance, estimate software and bottlenecks.
  • Efficiency- Explore enhanced processes such as scoping sheets, in/out to maximize productivity/efficiency of variable resources.
  • Training- Leverage Leadership Development and Technical Resources to develop variable resource training and best practices relating to claim handling requirements and CAT response. Provide event specific training, guidance and best practices to variable resources. Complete annual validation of readiness.
 Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to a wide audience
  • Capability to collaborate with Tower, Service Center, Vendor and IA management
  • Analytical and strategic skills to assess processes and recommend process improvement
  • Aptitude for evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting information
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Technically proficient with commercial and personal lines coverage as well as Claim systems
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with estimate platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft succinct reports for Senior Level Managers
  • Extremely organized individual that can multi-task while effectively compartmentalizing multiple streams of information and work within tight deadlines
  • Adaptable, flexible and team/relationship oriented
Special Requirements:
  • Preferred location within the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic or at a Service Center Location
  • Business Travel approximately 30 % (depending on location).
  • Extended/Weekend hours during significant CAT events and peak times.
