Marine Underwriter
Description
Chubb is currently seeking an Inland Marine Underwriter in the Philadelphia, PA office.  The ideal candidate will have marine insurance underwriting experience in addition to strong sales and marketing skills.  Lines of business include Inland Marine / Builders Risk and Ocean Cargo, but with a focus on renewable Marine lines including Homebuilders, Contractors Equipment, Equipment Dealers, Commercial Rental Operations, Equipment Floaters, Fine Arts, Agricultural Equipment, Miscellaneous Articles Floaters, Musical Instruments and Dealers, Electronic Data Processing Equipment and Communication Equipment.
Underwriting Duties Include
  • Evaluates, accepts, rejects, or modifies risks within established underwriting guidelines and authority. Complies with company policies, procedures & rating plans when evaluating and managing risk.
  • Ability to create deep and lasting professional relationships with a wide variety of agents from a remote geography.
  • Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company.  
  • Provides primary communication and direction for all processing requirements including policy issuance instruction, endorsement requests, billing requirements and audit review
  • Maintains service standards by timely response to broker requests in addition to meeting deadlines on submissions of quotations, certificates and/or policies.
  • Performs other duties as required to best serve customer, team and management needs.
Requirements:
  • 3 - 5 Years Property Casualty Insurance with Inland Marine expertise
  • Ability to successfully negotiate on all levels and develop producer relationships.
  • Track record of new business production, service orientation and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, underwriting and pricing strategies.
  • Product knowledge in Marine Insurance.
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication skills and focus on quality.
Education and Experience
  • College level degree – Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
