SCOPE


This is a North America Finance position that will have ownership and accountability Commercial/Personal Management Reporting, Segment Expense Planning and Analysis, and North America SOX compliance.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Personal Management Reporting - This role will have primary responsibility for coordinating the North America Commercial/Personal planning, forecasting, and P&L close efforts which includes:

  • Working directly with the Business Leadership to understand plan guidance, timelines, and required deliverables
  • Coordinating directly with the Divisional Finance Officers to ensure they meet their submission deadlines
  • Preparing the final plan/forecast materials that will ultimately be presented to the Global CEO
  • Managing the monthly/quarterly close process and analysis relative to Commercial and Personal segment results.

North America SOX Compliance - Responsibilities related to ongoing SOX coordination:

  • Liaise with Internal Audit and external auditors on all SOX and audit related matters including participation in SOX status meetings, command of the SOX calendar, and active participant in SOX walkthroughs as needed
  • Management advocate for resolving control issues, including project lead for any significant deficiency resolution as required.
  • Point person for coordination and escalation of management SOX deliverables to external/internal auditors
  • Coordination of CEO/CFO SOX clearance sign-off

Expense Management – Responsibilities relate to Segment expense oversight:

  • Work with the Global Finance Expense Management team to ensure timely and accurate expense reporting
  • Oversee the annual expense budgeting process and quarterly forecasting efforts
  • Review monthly and quarterly expense variance analysis
  • Work with key functional areas (e.g. IT) to understand and evaluate segment expense budgets and allocations.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Four year degree in Business and/or Accounting
  • CPA or MBA Preferred
  • 15+ years relevant experience – with either a Public Accounting firm or Corporate Accounting/FP&A function.
  • Insurance accounting/financial knowledge understanding (Preferred)
  • Must demonstrate an orientation to results
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with other disciplines and all levels of management/staff throughout the organization
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to problem solve and work autonomously, to manage multiple projects and people, and to prioritize appropriately
