Senior Underwriter - New York City - Private/Not For Profit Management Liability

Our underwriters are responsible for blending analytical and marketing skills into an effective business style by applying analytical skills to the risk assessment process; developing solutions for global customers; cultivating relationships with agents and brokers while using relationship to place business with Chubb; selling Chubb’s competitive advantages in the marketplace and negotiating pricing and terms and conditions in a competitive marketplace that meet the customer’s needs and positions Chubb to achieve profitability.
A.        MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
•           Solicit new and renewal submissions from brokers
•           Determine terms and conditions and complex rating plans
•           Bind coverage
•           Represent company at client meetings
•           Document the underwriting files
B.        MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•           3 years underwriting experience
•           Experience underwriting D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Crime Insurance
•           Bachelor’s degree preferred
C.        DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•           Knowledge of D&O insurance industry
•           Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
•           Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
•           Oral and written communication skills
•           Negotiation skills
•           Marketing skills
•           Basic leadership skills
Production and Underwriting Execution:
•           Maintain and expand broker relationships in New York City branch
•           Participate in client meetings and marketing calls with targeted brokers
•           Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability
•           Conduct presentations and communicate articulately
•           Manage broker/agent strategy to drive new business production
•           Focus on achieving production, profitability, renewal retention and rate goals 
Adherence to Quality Underwriting Standards:
•           Focus on risk selection
•           Financial proficiency – understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis; understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets; ability to understand credit risk
•           Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, authority statement and
            divisional underwriting procedures
Adherence to Service Standards:
•           Ensure every account complies with divisional standards for clearance, quotations, binding and servicing.
•           Ensure all binders are issued within 3 days of the effective date and policies are
issued within 30 days.
•           Ensure Tracker is updated and maintained with accurate data and in real time
•           Return phone calls in a timely manner – within 24 hours.
