We are currently looking to fill a commercial middle market underwriting position on the Milwaukee Branch Commercial Insurance team.  This team handles business within but not limited to the manufacturing, wholesale, professional services, financial institutions, cultural institutions, real estate and retail industry practices.  The Commercial Insurance  P&C underwriting team consists of four production underwriters and one manager, servicing business produced by agents and brokers in the state of Wisconsin.  Additional business support is provided and coordinated with cored/specialty underwriters that reside in other Chubb offices and is done on an account by account basis.   

Position Responsibilities
• Financial performance, including profit, rate, retention, and growth, of a multi-million dollar book of multi-line Commercial business, with a focus on customers with revenue up to $1B. 
• Individual annual new business goal of $2M in premium.
• Prospect pipeline management to identify and maintain opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
• Successful market penetration and agency management including building, maintaining and managing producer and customer relationships.
• Developing agency strategy and goals with continual monitoring of progress.
• Identifying cross sell opportunities within commercial products and services.
• Soliciting, selecting and analyzing risk within Chubb Commercial Insurance guidelines and ensuring proper documentation.
• Developing and negotiating price, coverage, and terms and conditions for all new business and renewals and actively identifying account rounding opportunities.
• Meeting with producers and new and renewal customers to make sales presentations including product education and new product roll out.
• Collaborating with underwriters, risk engineering, operations, claims, marketing and home office product management.
• Consistently meeting service standards.
• Collecting and sharing industry intelligence with team, including industry trending and development.

• Travel is within the entire state of Wisconsin, and expected to be 50% of this individual’s time.

Knowledge, skills and abilities: 
• Solid knowledge of commercial P&C underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
• Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge with experience handling commercial insurance lines.
• Strong analytical skills including financial analysis.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales, marketing and negotiation.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills. 
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
• Experience developing and executing on marketing plans and prospects.
• Ability to be creative and adaptable in a changing business environment.
• Sound, balanced and timely decision making skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 + years underwriting experience preferred.
