Relationship and Scope

This role is a key member of the Philadelphia Reconciliation Team in Global Financial Operations, requiring an experienced financial operations professional with proven track record of leading process improvements, a strong understanding of accounting, and experience managing a team of professionals.  The Finance Manager will ensure completion of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, identification of issues and coordination of corrections across internal business groups, and ensure value add by the team for various Global Financial Operations projects.  This role requires communication of subject matter expertise effectively across all levels of management.  Additionally, this role requires strong leadership skills, of both projects and team members.

This position is responsible for the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the duties listed below and is expected to interact effectively with other business and operational units across the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of financial operations and the impact to accounting results
  • Review and sign off account reconciliations and ensure research of aged balances to resolution
  • Interact proficiently and professionally with various levels across the organization, including senior management
  • Identify solutions and coordinate corrections for errors within the financial operations flows
  • Critical review and approval of journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Review and coordinate team responses to the Financial Controls Unit and external auditors to properly state account balances and impact on the balance sheet and income statement in addition to submitting a plan for remediation
  • Support departmental initiatives and play an active role with regard to special projects as identified by management
  • Enhancement of current operations and procedures, with a strong focus on continuous improvement of automation and evolution of best practices
  • Coordinate all front-end business needs and ensure internal customer service requests are addressed in a timely manner
  • Ad hoc projects, assignments or team needs


Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business required, with a major in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in a financial operations type role
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of professionals
  • Mastery of end user applications (e.g. Microsoft Office products), with focus on Excel (including pivot tables and formulas), Word and Visio.
  • PeopleSoft experience a plus
  • Reconciliation software experience preferred
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Strong reconciliation experience with an understanding of the systems and processes impacting general ledger clearing accounts
  • Strong time management and organization skills
