The position will report to the Manager of the Financial Controls Unit and is a pivotal team member of the unit.  This position will provide support to various Chubb business units regarding assessment and performance of key control objectives designed as part of Sarbanes Oxley compliance.  

The FCU team is part of the Finance Shared Services Center (FSSC), a financial reporting department that provides services to a broad spectrum of the Chubb community.  This team interacts regularly with other members in the FSSC, key members of Chubb management, Internal Audit and the External Auditors.  The FCU team’s primary responsibility is to design and execute quality control testing procedures to ensure management’s compliance with specific key financial controls throughout the finance organization.  

Assist in the performance of the various quality control reviews performed by the FCU team.
  • Premium Registration QC: Perform the quality control reviews to ensure that policy documentation agrees to how the policy and revenue were registered in the source systems.   Perform data reconciliations to ensure that the source systems agree to the gross written premium that interfaced with the general ledger.  
  • Journal Entry QC:  Perform the quality control reviews to ensure that manual journal entries are processed in compliance with the Company’s journal entry policy.
  • Account Reconciliations QC:  Perform the quality control reviews to ensure compliance with the Company’s account reconciliation policy.       

Successful candidates should be able to:
  • Assist with ensuring the SOX Control Narratives are updated to reflect the current scope and nature of the control.  
  • Serve as a liaison for the internal and external auditors for sample selections and data requests.  
  • Continuously enhance the QC and documentation of reviews in order to minimize questions from both Internal and External Audit.
  • Assist with resolving exceptions identified during QC testing.
  • Resolve exceptions within an appropriate timeframe after the QC review and secure the required information.
  • Ensure timely completion of QC testing to ensure the department is meeting monthly due dates.
  • Ensure quality of the files including appropriate reviews conducted by the responsible manager before submission to FCU management.
  • Identify areas requiring improvement, assess scope and resources necessary to make improvements and follow through by executing on improvement plans.
  • Advise management on the emergence and progress of deliverables, as well as the appearance of issues or obstacles. 
  • Demonstrate agility by managing and prioritizing workload in order to meet department and client expectations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting concentration strongly preferred
  • Insurance industry experience beneficial, but not necessary
  • Public Accounting experience and/or internal audit experience is preferred
  • 1-3 years of work experience
  • CPA designation a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Mastery of end user applications (e.g., Microsoft products such as Excel/Word/Access). Database query skills are a significant differentiator
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational areas and levels
