Counsel will be responsible for providing legal services and support to the Office of General Counsel, North America legal team on a wide variety of matters.  The position may be based in New York or in Chubb’s Whitehouse Station office, depending on the candidate.
Responsibilities include:
  • Review, revision and handling of non-disclosure agreements and joinders
  • Statutory, regulatory, and case law research
  • Drafting of legal memoranda
  • Contract review, analysis, drafting, and revisions for:
    • Insurance policies, endorsements, applications, quotations, and binders
    • Risk management agreements
    • New client proposals
    • Performance incentive agreements
    • Consulting Agreements
    • Collateral, security and escrow agreements and forms
  • Provide legal advice for transactional and regulatory matters
  • Support compliance officers to amend business practices and products where needed to ensure compliance, and communicate compliance issues to business
  • Review, learn and remain current on developing insurance statutes, regulations, case law, and related subject matter
  • Work with outside counsel as needed to analyze and address transactional issues in a regulatory framework
  • Periodic travel to meet with management, underwriters, and attorneys
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to at least one state bar
  • At least one to three years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, insurance  legal experience preferred
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to understand business needs and provide consultation that is compliant, but helps to meet business goals
  • Ability to work on and manage multiple tasks based on business needs and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills  to effectively communicate with attorneys, clients, and other internal business partners
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance, and/or financial lines insurance preferred
  • Knowledge of contract law and experience in drafting agreements and other business documents preferred
