As a Claims Associate in Chubb’s Associate Program, your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Receiving assignments and reviewing claim and policy information to conduct investigation and may determine the extent of the policy’s obligation to the insured depending on the line of business.
  • Contacting, interviewing and obtaining statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, etc. to secure necessary claim information.
  • Evaluating facts supplied by investigation to determine extent of liability of the insured, if any, and extent of the company’s obligation to the insured under the policy contract.
  • Preparing coverage position letters and communicating coverage positions to insureds, brokers, attorneys, and other carriers.
  • Preparing reports on investigation, settlements, denials of claims, individual evaluation of involved parties etc.
  • Setting reserves within authority limits and recommends reserve changes to Team Leader.
  • Reviewing progress and status of claims with Team Leader and discusses problems and suggested remedial actions
  • Assisting Team Leader in developing methods and improvements for handling claims.
  • Settling claims promptly and equitably.
  • Obtaining releases, proofs of loss or compensation agreements and issuing company drafts in payments for claims.
  • Informing claimants, insureds/customers or attorney of denial of claim when applicable.

  • JD or Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Some knowledge of insurance concepts, practices and procedures is desirable
  • Prior work experience (including summer or part time roles) or internships preferred
