Job Description

Claims professional responsible for reviewing and evaluating new primary liability casualty claim notices and making determinations for segmentation of losses.  The job’s core competencies include detailed review of file documents, understanding and application of the department’s routing guidelines, communication amongst team members, and ultimately being responsible for the segmentation of a high volume of new losses coming into the company.


Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing outstanding customer service, including working well with all stakeholders (including, but not limited to, the insured, the broker and the TPA) in the investigation of primary casualty claims;
  • Preliminarily analyzing coverage under the appropriate Chubb Policy;
  • Reading and analyzing a claim’s loss facts to identify the type of loss being submitted, the likelihood of the insured’s potential liability, the extent of damages, and the overall exposure presented by the claim;
  • Making decisions regarding segmentation of the claim against a defined set of rules for segmenting the claim within the department; and
  • Carefully identifying claims of high importance, including late reported claims, upcoming trials/mediations, etc.


  • Bachelor's Degree required;
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn the insurance claims industry;
  • Prior industry experience not necessarily required, but successful candidate will have a strong interest in litigation and the insurance industry;
  • Ability to stay organized and appropriately prioritize tasks in an efficient manner;
  • Strong writing, speaking, and listening skills;
  • Ability to analytically identify, digest, and process complex materials on different subjects from various sources; and
  • Present themselves in a highly professional manner at all times.
