Job Description

Claims Business Intelligence (BI) Solutions Sr. Specialist will be responsible for the design and development of Qlik Sense business intelligence tools that enable the monitoring and root cause analysis of critical Claim Department metrics.
As a Claims BI Solutions Sr. Specialist you will be partnering with the Claims Data Solutions team and Actuarial Insights team, as well as business stakeholders to develop comprehensive BI solutions.
Responsibilities:
 
  • Design and develop executive dashboards and analytical solutions using Qlik Sense visualization and reporting tools
  • Extract, transform and load data from multiple sources into Qlik Sense applications
  • Perform data and systems analysis to translate business requirements into technical code as well as maintain and support code
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing data model and dashboards and optimize Qlik Sense reports as needed
  • Maintain BI tools; provide production support; implement enhancements
  • Act as lead administrator of Claims BI tools; manage testing and production environments; manage user access; schedule releases and set up automation of releases; manage application/extension upgrades
  • Implement application security controls (i.e., Dynamic Data Reduction) in BI tools
  • Establish balance and control routines to ensure data quality
  • Improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to ensure data accuracy, viability and value.
  • Utilize problem solving and critical thinking skills to solve data visualization challenges
  • Partner with the Claims Data Solutions Team, Claims BI/Actuarial Insights team and IT members to support Claims BI Strategy initiatives
  • Act as the resident expert of visualization tools; coach and develop team members on the development of visualization tools
  • Keep up-to-speed on new visualization and analytical tools/techniques in the industry; recommend and adopt them where best fit
  • Develop and maintain clear and succinct documentation, including user training materials
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in analytical disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or computer science.
  • 3+ years designing and developing Qlik Sense BI solutions with demonstrated capability in data visualization / data discovery
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a business intelligence, technology or analytical field
  • Experience in Qlik Data Modelling and Set Analysis
  • Experience in implementing Qlik security thru Section access
  • Experience in Qlik Extensions and building custom solutions
  • Experience in Mashup implementations, NPrinting reports in creating Apps, connections, tasks and publishing
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge on data warehouse and database concepts and experience in dimensional modeling using star and snow flake schemas
  • Working knowledge of data sources, database structures, statistical principles and methodologies
  • Ability to use basic SQL code to develop queries
  • Experience with SDLC from inception to delivery of project including requirements gathering, design, implementation, documentation, production release and production support.
  • Property and casualty insurance industry experience is preferred
  • Prior Agile methodology experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated and innovative with the ability to set direction, manage own work
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic with capacity to work independently and take initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present and explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Power Point a plus
