SUMMARY

This is a critical position within the Global Finance organization, as it is responsible for the development and execution of Chubb’s expense management strategy.  The role will have direct responsibility for analysis and reporting across all North American based business units, encompassing over 15,000 personnel.  Critical success factors include delivery of clear, concise and accurate information impacting Chubb’s forecasted and actual results, as well as the ability to take ownership and drive change across the organization while maintaining focus on critical reporting milestones.  The position provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with key customers and constituencies in designing and implementing a new expense reporting platform that will enable more efficient, effective and meaningful analysis and metrics.

RELATIONSHIP & SCOPE

Chubb is seeking a qualified candidate to join Global Expense Management, located in Philadelphia, PA. The position reports to the SVP, Global Expense Management, and leads a team of 5 managers & analysts.  The position will manage a team of motivated personnel in delivering expense analysis, commentary, and guidance under the current-state process.  Simultaneously, the position will utilize both existing and new technology to influence the development of a future-state expense analysis framework that facilitates self-directed tools and services to its clients.  These new tools and services will vastly improve the customer experience, providing actionable information to customers faster and better than ever before.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the expense analysis function within Global Finance, working closely with Segment and Divisional leaders to manage key deliverables for plan, forecast and actual results.
  • Envision, define and implement a future state expense management framework at Chubb. 
  • Collaborate with systems personnel and external consultants to develop the technological platform necessary to enhance analysis and reporting within the field. 
  • Drive measurable changes in the manner by which customers receive and assess expense information, especially in the areas of personnel costs.
  • Provide granularity and visibility to directly incurred centrally managed and support unit costs on both a pre- and post-allocated basis. 
  • Oversee the production of timely and accurate expense analysis and commentary for dozens of business groups and support units operating in the United States, Canada and Bermuda.
  • Oversee the design and buildout of numerous reports within the IBM TM1 reporting database, developing an agile expense platform that transforms the user experience, providing them with transparent and meaningful expense data that helps shape their assessments and commentary
  • Work closely with leaders in various disciplines (including Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations) to understand their internal customer support strategy, and interact with the business groups to facilitate their understanding of the relationship between support services provided and the expenses being allocated.
  • Produce various ad-hoc analyses and metrics for consumption by Corporate / Segment executives. 
  • Help the organization to assess key areas of expenditure and drive informed decision-making regarding expenses at the divisional and profit center (MCC) levels.
  • Serve as liaison between divisional and North American (NA) Segment finance leadership, and work with NA finance executives to enable quality and timely reporting of expense results to Chubb Limited / Global finance each period.
  • Influence change across key constituents; remove obstacles to achieve objectives
  • Ensure the implementation and application of project management rigor to on-going projects
  • All other responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, with Accounting Finance/MIS major; CPA or MBA a plus  
  • 10+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience, with progressive managerial and leadership responsibilities
  • Experience with cubes and relation-based databases (TM1, Hyperion, Cognos, Essbase, SQL) as well as general ledger platforms (Oracle/PeopleSoft, SAP, NetSuite, etc.) a must
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills, with a focus on improving existing processes through standardization and technology/automation.
  • Insurance industry experience a plus

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills required, with an ability to exercise sound judgement when recommending solutions to issues;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and proven leadership & change management capabilities. 
  • Ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of a large organization; demonstrated project management experience a plus
  • Ability to work effectively and exert influence with all levels of the company; demonstrated experience influencing change across key constituencies by working with executives
  • Enthusiastic self-starter possessing superior analytical skills; focused and detail-oriented leader who demonstrates dedication, integrity and an interest in continuous learning
